A Lot Can Happen in a Year - 2021 – Black Box Intelligence™ A Year in Review
We kicked off 2021 by being acquired by Diversis Capital (almost exactly a year after rebranding to Black Box Intelligence™!). Since then, we have been busy expanding our team, adding fresh faces, and have been relentlessly focused on igniting a fire within the industry. The addition of these top-notch professionals to our stellar group of leaders allows us to continue to refine and improve our products and services.
Just recently we announced that industry veteran, David Cantu, has joined the company as chief executive officer. A restaurateur at heart, Cantu has a proven background leading a technology company in the restaurant space and is known for his innovative spirit and for being hyper-focused on delivering maximum value to clients.
Speaking of maximum value, did you hear we also acquired MillerPulse this year? When combined with Black Box Financial Intelligence™ we are excited to report your sales, traffic, and other financial benchmarks are now fueled by the largest and most powerful dataset representing 72,000 restaurant units and $153 billion in annual revenue. This increase is a result of dreaming big and finding more ways to provide you with the most crucial insights.
We have also been hard at work to improve and upgrade product functionality. We are continuously looking at ways to adapt the way we work to align with how you need to make decisions for your business. This includes upgrading our methodology to a weighted average in Financial Intelligence. This enhancement will reveal insights into a more statistically relevant picture of the entire restaurant industry and better account for the volatility of the market.
Significant improvements have been made to Workforce Intelligence, which has been providing you with critical data during the labor crisis. In addition to transitioning to monthly compensation reports (previously delivered quarterly), we have added a “to-go specialist” position to the Workforce Intelligence index and sped up reporting delivery by over a week!
Last but certainly not least, one of the most important things we have been doing is striving to do good in our communities. Our team dedicated time this year to many causes near and dear to our hearts, including volunteering at animal shelters, as court-appointed special advocates, cleaning up neighborhoods, working in food banks, and many others. The team wrapped up the year with a special volunteer day when the Dallas team met to work at Brother Bills Helping Hand, a non-profit that provides food, healthcare, and educational programming to those in need in the West Dallas and Oak Cliff communities.
